Margot van Cleef-Metsaars is an MfN Registered Mediator, former lawyer and judge. She first worked at a large law firm in Amsterdam and at an investment bank in London. Margot then moved on to the judiciary, most recently working as a judge at the Court of Appeal in The Hague.

In addition to her work as a judge, Margot has also become an MfN Registered Mediator, which led to her joining ReulingSchutte in 2021. As a judge, Margot gained a wide range of dispute resolution experience, not just through adjudicating disputes at law, but also through her involvement in consulting on, negotiating and arranging amicable settlements. She uses that experience as a mediator. Margot focuses on business mediation in a broad sense, including negotiation guidance and process counselling. Margot is also available as an arbitrator and binding advisor.

Margot van Cleef-Metsaars focuses on labour disputes, issues with public and semi-public sector bodies, liability, insolvency, personal injury, friction within all types of business relationships, including partnerships, disputes between management and supervisory boards, between shareholders and (international) trading partners. Margot is also familiar with disputes in the banking sector and in the telecommunications and ICT industry.

In addition to her work as a business mediator, Margot works part-time as a judge at the Court of Appeal in The Hague. She is chairperson of the Disciplinary Tribunal for MfN mediators. Within the judiciary, Margot is committed to mediation and innovations relating to solution-based hearings. She publishes regularly on, for instance, confidentiality in mediation and on collaboration between the judiciary and mediation parties.
